Respected British secret agent Phillip Calvert (Hopkins, Silence of the Lambs) is despatched to investigate the hijacking of several cargo ships, tracking the Nantesville, which is carrying £8 million in gold to the Scottish port town of Torbay. Joined by Roy Hunslett (Corin Redgrave, Excalibur) the two agents go undercover to observe shipping magnate Sir Anthony Skouras (Jack Hawkins, Lawrence of Arabia), who may be responsible for pirating the gold bullion. But as their investigation deepens, the seaside community closes in on the two cunning spies, dividing the pirates from the fishermen in an all out race to secure the whereabouts of the missing treasure.
