At first, the dad seemed like someone you'd want to punch, and I thought, "Oh great, is this going to be some feminist statement about how terrible men are?" But then the mom started acting out of line too, and I found myself wondering where it was all headed. About halfway through, I thought maybe it deserved three stars—after all, for a family drama, it wasn't as over-the-top and loud as you'd expect from an Italian film. But then things took a turn, and the emotions just stopped making sense.
