Story follows the lives of two mothers and their relationships to their only child daughters. The one mother, a successful actress, has grown distant from her daughter. The other is the black housekeeper to the actress whose own light-skinned daughter can pass for white and decides to disown any connection to her race, much to her mother's heartbreak.
