In a world without guns, fighting is an art. Centuries from now, civilization as we know it has ceased to exist, and a feudal society has emerged in what was once the American Midwest. This area, now known as the Badlands, is uneasily divided among seven rival Barons who enforce their iron rule with the aid of loyal armies of trained assassins known as Clippers. When Sunny (Daniel Wu), the head Clipper and trusted advisor to the Badlands' most powerful Baron, rescues a mysterious teenager named M.K. (Aramis Knight) from an ambush, he soon learns the teen harbours a dark secret and a hefty bounty on his head. Together they will embark on an odyssey that could mean the difference between chaos and enlightenment for everyone in the Badlands. (20th Century Fox AU)

Into the Badlands (2015)

English This has got off to a very smooth start so far. The biggest attraction is the star Daniel Wu, who gives his best in fights. The choreography is top-notch, with amazing cinematography, visuals, and editing, all kinds of limbs are broken in incredible amounts and most importantly it's R-rated, with no shortage of shards in eyes or spears in stomachs. Wu is a real machine here breaking ligaments, arms, breaking a guy's legs against a tree and breaking one guy so hard his thumbs end up near his head. The final sword fight in the rain will remind you of the gem 7 Grandmasters. Story-wise the series also seems interesting, I like the appropriate time period and the young boy is apparently surrounded by supernatural martial arts forces – we have a lot to look forward to, you can feel the enthusiasm for martial arts. The second and third episodes raised the bar very high. The story unfolds brilliantly, the action surpasses almost everything seen so far. An incredibly blood orgy, over-the-top choreographed fights that make me scream as if I were at the Super Bowl, almost unbearable. My new favourte! Along with Banshee, the best action series ever. Season 2 (2017) (S02)

English The opening episodes are perfect especially when it comes to violence and brutality, the series knows no boundaries. But as time went on, I felt that the action was no longer the primary focus and the series focused more on the development of the story, which I enjoyed, but I would have liked to see more action. Still, again, a good series. 8/10 ()

Season 3 (2018) (S03)

English This series started so well and ends so blandly. The third season strays from the original concept and it didn't sit well with me at all. It's getting too fantasy and all the fights involve flying, which I don't like. Daniel Wu doesn't show off much in the action anymore, the characters are getting annoying. The only thing keeping the series afloat is the juicy gore, even though even that is gone in this season. Finished more out of curiosity than interest. 60% ()
