The city of East Mission Oregon is in lock-down. Theres been a large-scale zombie outbreak and the mandatory government vaccine has failed to stop the infection from spreading. Now, four survivors must join forces to evade infection and track down the cause of the epidemic. With all signs pointing to a government cover-up and the city collapsing into mass panic and chaos, their perilous journey to escape the quarantine zone becomes a race against time and a fight to save humanity. I was hoping for a more action-packed gore inferno, but without question, Dead Rising is a better made, bloodier and more entertaining horror film than the cerebral and boring home video Wyrmwood. It has a decent cast, it sticks to the game's template, with the array of inventive weaponry and a bunch of bad guys adding to the film's drive. I had a decent time, and if a better zombie horror movie doesn't come out this year, I'll up the rating. 65%.

The horror film Dead Rising is not outright scary, but it has moments that could be considered as such. It's not a film that is extra gory, but there is gore and it's not bad. Then there's the story, which I didn't actually find tragic. Jesse Metcalfe is sometimes probably too likable an actor, but in this case I didn't mind all that much. It’s good B-movie fun.
