Julia

Plots(1)

After being brutally pack raped, dental hygienist Julia undergoes a radical and unorthodox form of therapy in order to find herself again. Her psychiatrist recommends structure, carefully monitored revenge - but for Julia, it's gone way beyond that. Her thirst for vengeance is too strong, her need for payback all-encompassing and she becomes totally dominated by her own thirst for retribution, willing to do anything, kill anyone, to even the score. English An average exploitation flick with surprisingly fine visuals and an uninspired idea, but what good is it when there is no room for boldness (the gore is missing, the rape is weaker) Only an attractive protagonist, quite a lot of bizarreness and a slight dose of disquiet. 55%. ()

English This is a film where you get the feeling that the creators tried really hard to approach the material differently, to create an impression of darkness and pervasive depression, but somehow forgot about the other factors. I tend to prefer films with more plot-driven narratives, and ultimately Julia is nothing more than another revenge film that doesn't really bring anything new to the table. There's definitely more to be gleaned from the topic. ()
