Since time immemorial, people have told legends about abandoned children growing up in the wild and confronting civilization for the first time. What makes this particular story unique is its context: the bloody war in the Balkans at the end of the 20th century. The film is based on a true story. In the spring of 1988 a savage boy who has lived amongst wolves is found deep in the Bosnian highland. He is given the name of Haris and sent to an orphanage in Belgrade to be looked after by Ilke. Slowly, he begins to pronounce his first words. In 1992, in the midst of war, local authorities order him to return to Bosnia where he is given a rifle and sent to the frontline. One night, for the first time in his civilised life, Haris makes a decision entirely of his own. (IFF Bratislava)
