When their Mother dies, Annie and her Sister Nichole are left to pick up the pieces. Annie doesn't want anything to do with the funeral because her Mother was an abusive bitch, but out of love for her Sister, she agrees to come home and give her a hand with the arrangements. When she arrives at her Mother's house the next day, Nichole is gone. At that point, Annie should have left too. (official distributor synopsis)

English This is far from great filmmaking or a heart-attack inducing horror masterpiece, but it’s certainly a pleasant ninety minute dose of proper terror. In the first half, the film is especially successful in generating tension and fear, the ghost shows itself basically from the first minute, the camera moves nicely in the interiors of the “haunted” house – I have a weak spot for this, so I really enjoyed myself. It’s a pity that the climax is, to put it mildly, odd – if you look back at the story, it doesn’t make much sense. In the first half hour, The Pact was aiming at a strong four-star rating, but in the end in my eyes it’s “just” a very nice genre piece. Thumbs up regardless. ()

English The Pact isn't a completely bad movie, and its biggest positive is the fact that it tries to build atmosphere and keeps things constantly happening. It's commendable, but it's important to realize that all of this is handled quite traditionally, and there's nothing groundbreaking here that would contribute to modern horror in any significant way. A nice atmospheric tidbit that eventually got a sequel as well. ()
