Based on a sensational true story of teenage boredom and violence, the third film by acclaimed and controversial director Larry Clark (Kids, the banned-in-Australia Ken Park), Bully is a powerful, no-holds-barred thrill ride. Tormented young surfer Marty (Brad Renfro) has spent years trawling South Florida beaches and bars with his brutal, abusive friend Bobby (Nick Stahl). When Bobby turns his vicious attentions to Marty's new girlfriend Lisa (Rachel Miner) and her best friend Ally (Bijou Phillips), the stage is set for a chilling confrontation. Assembling a crew of alienated local kids determined to end Bobby's reign of terror, Lisa concocts a deadly plan to get Bobby out of the way once and for all... (Siren Visual Entertainment)

After a crucial scene, the initial disgust over the cheap attempt at shocking the viewer by depicting the sex life of Los Angeles teenagers turns into respect over the believably depicted reaction of these brats to the crime they committed. Its concept is not as clear and precise as that of Kids, but also not as fumbling and empty as that of Ken Park. Bully is somewhere in between. A weaker three stars than those I gave Alpha Dog. ()
