Looking to explore the New World, Walter Raleigh befriends Lord Leicester, who introduces the young explorer to the Queen Elizabeth I. A friendship arises between the aging Elizabeth and Raleigh. But the Queen becomes angry at her youthful new friend when she finds out that Raleigh is having an affair with the Queen's beautiful lady-in-waiting. Feeling betrayed Elizabeth has Raleigh imprisoned in the infamous Tower of London. But she soon softens and changes her mind, allowing him to take ships across the sea and marry his love.
