Kabuto Koji was little hot-blooded, but a common high school student. One day, when he went home, he found his only relative, Kabuto Juzo, was attacked by someone and killed. Juzo left a message, "It is up to you whether you will a god or devil?" With this message, Koji also received the strongest robot in the world, Mazinger Z. Those who killed his grandfather were Dr. Hell, who was plotting to rule the world by the super-ancient science technology, his subordinate Baron Ashura, and his squadron. They used Machine Beasts to beat Mazinger Z. Koji stayed at the Photonic Energy Research Institute. It was directed by Professor Yum who had been the assistance of Dr. Kabuto.
