Plots(1)
At the conclusion of the Civil War, travelers Mitch Barrett (Alan Ladd, Shane) and his pregnant wife make an emergency stop at a nearby town to find help. Unable to cover the meager cost of the medicine to save his wife, he witnesses her tragic death and vows to avenge her. In a show of remorse, the townsfolk take pity on Barrett, offering him the position of deputy sheriff to assuage his mood. Embittered and raw, Barrett exacts revenge the only way he knows how - by accepting the position to gain the people’s trust and in turn plotting the perfect bank robbery. (Umbrella Entertainment)
