Prague, circa 1953. An investigation of a jewel heist turns up Jewish suspects. State Security contends they are financing a Zionist operation. Captain Hakl believes the circumstances surrounding the charges dubious and when a German agent is deployed the detective realises he has stumbled across a witch hunt. Soon the suspects are confessing their guilt as part of a Communist Show trial in which hundreds of innocent people are about to be condemned to their deaths. The lies create a tangled web of paranoia and suspicion in this shadowy netherworld. Despite being taken off the case Hakl continues digging for the truth. (Accent Film Entertainment)
