Plots(1)

Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) has never had a problem getting a girlfriend. It's getting rid of them that proves difficult. From the girl who kicked his heart's ass - and now is back in town - to the teenage distraction he's trying to shake when Ramona (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) rollerblades into his world, love hasn't been easy. He soon discovers, however, his new crush has the most unusual baggage of all: a nefarious league of exes controls her love life and will do whatever it takes to eliminate him as a suitor. As Scott gets closer to Ramona, he must face an increasingly vicious rogues' gallery from her past - from infamous skateboarders to vegan rock stars and fearsome identical twins. And if he hopes to win his true love, he must vanquish them all before it really is game over. (Universal Pictures US)

English An incredibly original visual action ride, packed from beginning to end with directorial tweaks, graphics, and situational and verbal humour; every sentence is a joke. Scott Pilgrim is thoroughbred fun that demands a lot of attention from the viewer if they want to get all the jokes. If you ignore the superficial shiny tinsel, what’s left is a straight line that recycles old clichés with unprecedented vigour, relies on the repetition of one motive and takes place in an internally inconsistent and utterly insane world, but nobody cares. That would be very bad, but the protagonist is an ordinary geek who’s probably never come up with anything original (pick-up line), he only cares about one thing (video games) and his world and life cannot be considered deep or complex. The only question left is whether this film can be considered as a portrayal of the world through the eyes of Scott Pilgrim, or whether I’m just looking for things that aren’t there. Either way, it was a lot of fun. 9/10 ()

English Scott Pilgrim offers up a deluge of ideas, likable eccentricity and “fight” scenes that are easier to follow than those in most typical action movies. If today’s teenagers loved this more than superficial flicks in the vein of Twilight, the world would be a better place. ()

English There are images that mature over time and there are those that never change. At the time of its creation, I couldn't wait for a movie with punk, rock, a bunch of nice guys playing, and settling scores with ex-partners in a video game style based on comic book themes. I persuaded my friends to go to the cinema and it turned into a nightmare for every local viewer. While the trailers were almost untouched, my friends had a good time and thanked me for the suggestion, I could only scratch my head, and I barely managed to reach an average rating with the irresistible Culkin and a huge amount of visual ideas in mind. I couldn't understand what such a collection of beautiful girls led by Envy and Ramona could or can see in a charisma-less wimp played by Michael Cera. Furthermore, I was disappointed by the repetitive fights, the ethically problematic ending; I just couldn't stop grumbling. Every time someone mentioned Scott in the following years, often in enthusiastic recollection of the unrestrained spectacle full of fun, I wondered why I wasn't meant to fight with Mr. Pilgrim. That's why I met him again after thirteen years - and it turned out exactly the same. I can't stand the main character, I don't understand the role of Knives in the plot, maybe only those beginning stars, who will be much more famous in the future, I perceive even more. I take the rerun as an unexpectedly necessary preparation for an animated series that tells the same story, but fortunately in a completely different way, but with this name, I won't be friends in the live-action format. English With this film, it really depends on whether you are willing to accept the rules that apply in Scott Pilgrim's world, where funny words fly through the air or spectacular battles between rivals in love take place. Personally, I failed to submit to these wacky rules, which is why this film felt a little too over-the-top and absurd at times. That it is a very original mix of ideas and sequence of images, there is no doubt. But it just didn't entertain me as much as it should or could have. In short, a wild shower of colour, nice scenes and effects, but all wrapped up in a rather strange story that unfortunately didn't engage me. ()

English Unfortunately, it just made me more and more bored... I once tried to read “Scott Pilgrim," but the book seemed pretty useless to me and intended for people about a hundred years younger than me, and I must say that the adaptation is very much faithful in this regard. There are plenty of ideas here, though, because Edgar Wright is a toyer, but the plot didn't interest me at all from about halfway and I felt like the avalanches of all sorts of cool things primarily numbed and suffocated me.
