Debut feature from the Coen brothers. Suspecting his wife Abby (Frances McDormand) of having an affair, Texas bar owner Julian Marty (Dan Hedaya) hires private detective Loren Visser (M. Emmet Walsh) to obtain proof that she's cheating on him with his bartender Ray (John Getz). When he takes revealing photographs of the lovers together, Marty pays Visser to kill her but the detective has his own agenda to adhere to, sparking an intricate and bloody series of murders and double-crosses.
