A failing ice hockey team finds success with outrageously violent hockey goonery. This irreverent and outrageously funny look into the world of professional ice hockey has Paul Newman as the coach of the Chiefs, a third-rate minor league hockey team. To build up attendance at their games, management signs up three odd looking players whose job it is to literally attack and demolish the opposition, to the delight and cheers of a steadily increasing throng of fans. English What is worse than losing? Losing and getting beaten up, or Paul Newman and his Chiefs on the warpath. I didn't quite grasp whether, after the era of the Philadelphia Broad Street Bullies, it was meant to reflect violence on the ice as something that entertains the crowd, just like gladiatorial games used to, or if it’s just making a mockery of everything with its "cabaret" ending. In any case, the home team will be penalized. George Roy Hill, 2 minutes for filming and scenes from partner life, 2 minutes for delaying the game... ()
