In the tumultuous aftermath of the Civil War, Union Calvary officer John Henry Thomas takes his heroic men west while southerner James Langdon takes his soldiers to Mexico. When their paths cross, they forge an uneasy friendship that is quickly tested as they get caught between Mexican rebels and the Emperor's forces, and find themselves fighting side by side. Another classic Wayne again. These movies are starting to blend together for me. There's actually a pretty good story with horses, but the characters are still leading, with the most interesting part probably being the episode with the Indian and the white girl. It was clear that someone had put some thought into it, more than just the joke that this lighthearted film is laced with. It's not bad, but it's not exceptionally good either. ()
