D.S.O. agent Leon S. Kennedy is on a mission to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor from kidnappers, when a mysterious woman thwarts his pursuit. Meanwhile, B.S.A.A. agent Chris Redfield is investigating a zombie outbreak in San Francisco, where the cause of the infection cannot be identified. The only thing the victims have in common is that they all visited Alcatraz Island recently. Following that clue, Chris and his team head to the island, where a new horror awaits them. I never expected that the Resident Evil franchise would become a true Marvel-like experience. This is Avengers through and through. As a huge fan of the game series, I was intrigued by the idea of bringing all the main protagonists together in one film. It ends up being quite a mix, but never mind! In terms of the story, Death Island doesn’t offer much, as it loosely follows up on Vendetta from 2017 (which I personally found to be of better quality). The action sequences aren’t disappointing, and it’s quite enjoyable to see all the characters working together. The final battle with the monster could rival any superhero showdown (but this also seemed a bit over the top to me). The words "restraint" and "moderation" are completely foreign to this installment of the RE saga! :D For me, it’s a 6/10.
